Billing collectors in Telangana visited the consumers according to their orders and distributed bill during the first week of June, Due to the lockdown impact of Covid-19
After three months usage of electricity some consumers got issues in the bills, Electricity Regulatory Commission has decided that as the utility’s meter readers will not be able to visit the premises of consumers to take the reading or update the bill due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown.
The Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission, in its order, had stated that the billing for months of March and April in 2020 will be based on the previous year’s consumption in the same months. Accordingly, many consumers paid the bills. However, consumers who had returned to their native homes during the lockdown are feeling the pinch.
The Power Minister stated that consumers can pay the bill generated in May in three instalments. However, it will attract 1.5 per cent interest as per the order. The compounded bill will be even more difficult to calculate the month-wise consumption for March and April.
