- First Smog Tower In India
Delhi gets a first smog tower, it is a 20-feet tall tower which has been installed at South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar central market. The equipment has been installed by the Trade Association Lajpat Nagar with the help of former cricketer and MP Gautam Gambhir.
The air pollution levels have been alarming in the city, the air quality remains ‘severe’ in the last 48 hours. The Supreme Court in November 2019, asked the Centre and Delhi Government to come up with a road map to set up Smog Towers.
The Smog tower is 20 feet tall, the cost of the device is seven lakhs. It was produced by Gautam Gambhir Foundation. It is cylindrical in design with four outlets and one inlet. The tower will run on electricity. It will purify the air, with a circumference of 500mts to 750mts.
