- Various organisations hold Anti-CAB protests in Hyderabad
Mild tension prevailed during Friday noon prayers when close to 1,000 people assembled at Mehdipatnam and shouted slogans against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
Protests were held by Osmania University students at the Arts College where they burnt copies of the bill. Angry protesters took to streets in Saidabad, Darulshifa, Tolichowki and other places.
Several protesters, sporting black badges and headbands, marched from pillar No. 6 of PVNR Expressway as students, members of political parties, NGOs and social activists joined the rally.
At Mecca Masjid, protesters wore black headbands and staged a dharna outside the mosque.
Maulana Jaffer Pasha, president of Emarat-e-Millath-e-Islami, during his address at Darulshifa, said, “Our protest is against the BJP government which adopted the British policy of divide and rule.”
